Shana Latimer earned her BA in Communication and Media Studies from Clayton State University and MA and PhD in English from Georgia State University. During her years in academia, she taught a range of composition, literature, and business writing classes at universities in the metro Atlanta area.
She has been writing poetry and short stories since she was in elementary school, although most of those creative endeavors are tucked away from public view. For years, she had a vague idea for a dystopian novel, but she sheltered it alongside her other creative writing projects and enjoyed private rumination about the possibility; however, the idea caused such an internal ruckus she finally gave herself over to writing the story that has been her constant companion for nearly a decade.
Her academic and creative work has been published in Community Literacy Journal and Cygnet.
Manasseh is her first novel.
She is the mother-in-law of author
Jessie Fanczi Latimer.
