Shana Latimer earned her BA in Communication and Media Studies from Clayton State University and MA and PhD in English from Georgia State University. During her years in academia, she taught a range of composition, literature, and business writing classes at universities in the metro Atlanta area.
She has been writing poetry and short stories since she was in elementary school, although most of those creative endeavors are tucked away from public view. For years, she had a vague idea for a novel, but she sheltered it alongside her other creative writing projects and enjoyed private rumination about the possibility; however, the idea caused such an internal ruckus she finally gave herself over to writing the story that had been her constant companion for nearly a decade.
She is the mother-in-law of author Jessie Fanczi Latimer whose YA novel Again Behold the Stars (Quill and Flame) will be released in August 2026.
